GG Rating (GGR) shows you, at a glance, how a player will really play in-game in EA Sports FC 25. Want to know more about how it works and how it can help you? You’re in the right place.
What is GG Rating?
GG Rating (1–99.9) is FUT.GG’s own scoring system that reveals how a player actually performs in EA Sports FC 25 within specific Roles (e.g. RB – Fullback).
Unlike overall ratings (OVR), GG Rating (GGR) factors in every gameplay detail — from PlayStyles+ to body type — along with the current meta, ensuring your squad choices are meta appropriate.
Why use GG Rating?
- Fast Comparisons — Easily evaluate players in the same Role. No more guessing if that new RB truly outperforms your current one.
- Discover Hidden Strengths — Instantly see which Role a player is best suited to by comparing their GG Rating across multiple positions.
- Evo Hunting — Identify overpowered Evolutions and uncover undervalued gems that outperform their OVR.
- Save Coins and Fodder — Check if that SBC, next Evolution, or tradeable player you’re eyeing is worth the investment before committing.
- See the best Chem Style — we’ll show you the best Chemistry Style for each Role, this is the Chem Style will give them the highest GG Rating in that Role.

What contributes to GG Rating?
GG Rating analyses every aspect that impacts gameplay — we call these Factors:
- PlayStyles & PlayStyle+s
- Attributes (In-Game Stats)
- Height
- Weight
- Body Type
- Running Styles
- AcceleRATE
- Skill Moves
- Weak Foot
- Role Familiarity (Role, Role+ and Role++)
- Footedness (For Trivelas, Finesse etc)
How is GG Rating calculated?
41 Weighted In-Game Actions
GG Rating breaks performance into 41 Actions (e.g., Shielding, Ground Through Balls, Stand Tackling).
Each Action has multiple Factors (like Height, Stats and Playstyles) weighted within them.
For example the Action “Shielding” might have Factors including (but not limit to) Strength, Balance, Weight, and PlayStyles like Press Proven weighted within it.
Actions Weighted for every Role
Our expert panel then assigns a weight to each Action uniquely for each Role (RB - Fullback, ST - Advanced Forward etc). This weight is based on the Action’s importance to that Role, carefully considering the current meta.
For a position like ST - Target Forward the Action “Shielding” will have a higher weight compared to something like RB - Attacking Wingback, where players are going to need to shield much less.
Why does GG Rating change?
Power Curve Updates
Ratings adjust to keep pace with new player releases. Early-game GOATs (like Gold Van Dijk) will decline as EA introduces stronger, more meta players.
Meta Shifts
Gameplay patches (e.g., nerfed through balls) or new PlayStyles will trigger changes to ensure GG Rating reflects gameplay updates.
Testing & Feedback
Regular refreshes reflect our panel’s testing, pro insights, and community feedback, so GG Rating accurately reflects the live game.
FAQs
Q. Why does X player have a higher GG Rating than Y player who seems better?
A. There are loads of factors that could mean that one player has a higher GG Rating than another. If you don’t think it seems accurate, here are some reasons to consider before raising it with us directly:
- You’re comparing different Positions or Roles.
- Like in real life, comparisons between players who play different Roles aren’t really helpful, GG Rating is intended to compare players when used in the same Role.
- The player is missing an important base PlayStyle
- This is particularly obvious for defenders where defensive PlayStyles make a massive difference, that CB might look incredible but if they are missing a defensive PlayStyle (that isn’t Slide Tackle!) they will take a significant hit to their score vs a player that has that PlayStyle.
- Hype or price is making a player appear better than they are
- Sometimes players are expensive or hyped because they are good. Often though, it’s because they are rare on the market, the SBC is overpriced, or they are popular in real life. This is why GG Rating exists — to ensure players aren’t being overvalued.
- The meta has shifted and we’re planning an update
- Game updates and shifts in the gameplay meta may cause some players to become more or less meta over time. We will then be looking to make changes to GG Ratings as soon as we can.
All that said, we always consider community feedback. If you don’t feel that a GG Rating looks right do get in touch via our Discord, X or Instagram to let us know. We can’t respond to all queries about individual players, however, we are monitoring all feedback carefully.
Q. This player has a GG Rating lower than their OVR does that mean they aren’t good?
A. Not necessarily, particularly towards the end of the game cycle, players get such high OVR Ratings that in order to differentiate top players by GG Rating, all GG Ratings need be reduced across the board. In most cases, the scores will end up lower than their OVR towards the end of the cycle.
A better way to asses if the lower GG Rating is a concern would be to check their Rank in contrast to other players in the Role you’d like to play them in.
Q. Can I compare GG Ratings between different Positions or Roles?
A. Just like real life football, comparing GG Rating between different players playing different Positions won’t be useful. The weightings are unique to each Role and therefore even comparing between different Roles in the same position isn’t going to be very informative.
However, it can be useful for working out a players best Role. For example it might help identify that Kounde is more suited to RB - Fullback than RB - Wingback because his score is higher at RB - Fullback.
