EA Sports has introduced the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle in FC 25’s Legends Return Update, giving players more ways to beat the keeper. Here we take a look at how to execute the Low Driven Shot, and how to take advantage of the new PlayStyle in FC 25.
How to Perform a Low Driven Shot in FC 25
The low driven shot mechanics remain the same as before the update:
- Press and hold the shoot button
- Release the shoot button before the power bar reaches 40%
If the power bar ends up going above 40% you will take a regular laces shot instead. Some veteran players may remember that previously Low Driven Shots used double tap shoot (now Timed Finishing) or more recently L1 + R1 / RB + LB and shoot (now Power Shot). These are no longer used, and the only way to take a Low Driven is with an "underpowered" shot.
How to use the new Low Driven Shot PlayStyle & PlayStyle+
Simply take a Low Driven Shot with a player who has the Low Drive Shot PlayStyle or PlayStyle+ and the shot will be improved by the PlayStyle. There are no additional extra controls required to trigger the PlayStyle or PlayStyle, simply shoot with a shot powered up to below 40%.
What does the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle do in FC?
Players with the regular Low Driven Shot PlayStyle (or Low Driven Shot Silver, or Base, as it might also be known) gain the following unique advantages to their Low Driven Shots:
- Improved Accuracy: Significant increase in Low Driven shot accuracy
- Faster Shots: Moderate increase in ball travel speed when taking Low Driven shots
- Quicker Execution: Moderate increase in how quickly players can perform the Low Driven shot
What does the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle+ do in FC?
Some players may be release with the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle+ (or Low Driven Shot Gold as it is sometimes known), rather than just the the regular PlayStyle. This superior version of the PlayStyle will receive the same benefits as having the regular Low Driven Shot PlayStyle, but tuned to be even more effective.
Below you can see a comparison between a player shooting a Low Driven Shot without (above) and with (below) the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle.
When to Use the Low Driven Shot in FC 25
There are a variety of opportunities to use the Low Driven Shot in FC 25:
- Shooting Across the Keeper: if space opens up at the far post, a cross-body, cross-keeper shot is one the optimal places to use a Low Driven
- Near-Post Finishes: if the keeper has left space at the near post, a Low Driven Shot's speed and ability to find the corner of the goal
- First Time Shots: hitting the ball low first time can make it impossible for a keeper to get down quick enough to make the save, just make sure you don't aim directly at the keeper!
It's worth noting that using both Timed Finishing and Precision Shooting will further improve the quality of your Low Driven Shot.
Is the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle Meta in FC 25?
While it is early to make a call on whether the PlayStyle is very effective in FC 25, the Low Driven Shot has been consistently useful without the PlayStyle in this edition on EA FC. Therefore, we would anticipate that the Low Driven Shot PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ will be one of the most desirable shooting PlayStyles in FC 25.
The Low Driven Shot PlayStyle adds a new option for shooting in FC 25. Practice the mechanic, look for players and evolutions with the new PlayStyle and add them to your team and you'll have a brand new shooting weapon in your arsenal!
