EA have called this the biggest mid season update ever and we have to agree, some of the changes we are about to see are going to change the way we play EA FC 25.
You can check out the entire pitch notes to get an in depth idea on the changes on the EA Website here.
Let's take a look at the Top 5 Changes coming to FC 25:
1. Improved Shooting Inside the Box
Scoring from inside the box came with many challenges in FC 25, we were resorting to passes across the goal to make sure we scored but EA have finally given us some major changes to shooting.
Here are the all the updates to shooting inside the box:
- Increased Speed/Accuracy of regular and finesse shots
- Increased accuracy to Low Difficulty Shots
Some changes will be made to shooting in general, regardless of distance to goal:
- More Responsive First Time Shots
- Improved Finesse Shots for players without Finesse Shot PlayStyles/PlayStyles+
With these changes you should have more control over your players when shooting and have more creative freedom to make chances in game.
2. Reduced Tacklebacks
One of the most frustrating aspects of defending in FC 25 is making a good tackle and watching the ball bounce right back to another attacking player.
This patch addresses that by allowing defenders to make the deflection towards another defending player or stop the ball at their feet when they make the tackle.
This will be performed effectively by players that have the Anticipate PlayStyles.
There will also be an overall improvement on the quality of touches defenders make during tackles.
3. Improved Attacking AI
FC IQ gave us more control of our player's positioning and movement on and off the ball but one area that has needed improvement has been attacking player's movement.
Here are all the improvements we will see with the new update:
- Better movement to beat the offside line
- Better runs in behind for long passes
- Inside Forward and Advanced Forward Roles improved
On top of that, attacking players will be able to occupy spaces closer to other attackers for support instead of stopping runs. This was a major issue that will make attacking more fluid.
Role+ and Role++ players will be able to provide support and make decisions even quicker making them even more important to have in game.
4. Nerfed Defenders Catching Up To Fast Ball Carriers
In FC 25, it was almost impossible to beat defenders without using the L1 Speed Boosts, defenders with a major pace difference to attackers were catching up easily with attackers.
This new patch addresses that and allows players with higher pace to get past their defenders with the ball and make space for themselves.
5. Nerfed AI Defending
With the aim of encouraging more manual defending instead of relying on the defender's AI movement we are getting a set of changes with the new patch:
- Reduced how tightly AI defenders mark dribblers
- Reduced AI Defenders blocking shooting angles
- Reduced automatic interceptions
This means that selecting your defenders to manually mark players, block passing and shooting lanes will be more rewarding and create a skill gap in defence.
Some areas of defending do get a small boost though to keep the game balanced:
- Defenders will focus on man marking players during counter attacks from corners
- Players in the RM Winger/LM Winger Roles will defender deeper on the Balanced focus
- RB Falseback/LB Falseback Roles will immediately return to their wide defensive position when you lose possession
This new patch looks absolutely incredible and hopefully make the FC 25 experience more enjoyable. Which changes are you most excited by? Let us know below!
